For more information about our philosophy of worship here at Grace Church, we encourage you to read our Philosophy of Worship. For any other questions or for more information about our music ministry, contact Shawn Degenhart, our Music Director.
Sanctuary Choir – this non-auditioned choir participates in the majority of Sunday morning worship services by helping lead the congregation in worship and also singing an anthem most Sundays. From September through May, we meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 in the choir rehearsal room, then at 8:30am on Sunday mornings for a review. All are welcome to come and join us. We have a wonderful time!
Worship Team – the Grace worship team is an auditioned small ensemble of vocalists that lead the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings. Our music styles vary from traditional to contemporary in a blended service each Sunday morning. Auditions are held each September and those that are selected are expected to make a year commitment to participate in the worship team. We rehearse at 6:00pm on Wednesday evenings for about 20 minutes to go over the music for the following Sunday.
Instrumentalists – we employ a variety of instruments on Sunday mornings: piano, organ, synth, flute, violin, guitar, drums are typically heard on a Sunday morning. If you play any of these instruments (or any others!) contact Shawn to see about participating in the worship service.
Summer Sing Choir – from June through August, the regular sanctuary choir does not meet for rehearsals. Instead, the ‘summer-sing’ choir meets every Sunday morning at 8:30 and learns the anthem for that Sunday morning. This flexible schedule allows for those that can’t normally come to a Wednesday night rehearsal to participate in the choir. No long-term commitment is required, just come when you can.
Christmas Choir – beginning in September each year, the Christmas choir begins preparation for “A Christmas Festival.” This Christmas concert is presented the first Sunday evening of Advent and utilizes the choir along with a full orchestra. From September to the concert, there are only about 12 rehearsals, so attendance at a majority of the rehearsals is expected.
Children’s Choir – The children’s choir presents two musicals throughout the year: a spring musical and a Christmas musical. Combining music, drama and dance, these musicals share a strong gospel message and both participants and audience members have a lot of fun. They rehearse during the school year on Wednesday evenings as well as some Saturday rehearsals. All students from first grade through sixth grade are encouraged to participate.
